In the Classroom
This section showcases activities and lessons focused on literacy and digital technologies, as well as samples of student productions. Web 2.0 Tools highlights projects that capitalize on the potential of technology tools for student creativity and construction of understandings through multimodal compositions. Podcasting, website publishing, and blogs are just some of the examples included. While the Collaborating page also makes use of Web 2.0 tools, the focus is on projects that enable students to collaborate in shared reading and writing activities. Social bookmarking (Diigo) and concept mapping (Popplet) are examples of the tools, however, the emphasis is not so much on the features of the tools but on how the tools are used in the learning experience. Finally, the Resources page is a helpful compilation of links to support instruction for reading, writing, and digital literacies.
