Created in the Fall of 2014, Teachology 101 is based on the premise that professional development can be more responsive and meaningful when emphasizing distributed expertise and peer mentorship as models for active learning. Our workshops use the SAMR framework to guide our discussion and process for intentionally integrating instructional technology into classrooms. By encouraging shared learning--as opposed to overt expertise--we embrace creative risk-taking and provide low-stakes opportunities to develop and hone professional skills on two levels: (1) Our workshop planners and presenters are all current UW-Madison students who are growing as innovative leaders through their experiences on the Teachology team; (2) Our workshop participants have the opportunity to learn about technology tools, and develop lesson design ideas and strategies through their participation at our events.
